Editorial Policy
How health articles on this website are written, medically reviewed, referenced and kept up to date.
This website publishes articles about digestive and liver health for patients and families. Health information can affect decisions about care, so this page explains how our articles are written, checked and kept up to date.
Who is responsible for the content
All medical content on this website is overseen by Dr. Hitendra K Garg, DM (Gastroenterology, G.B. Pant Hospital), MD (Medicine, BHU), Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist, Hepatologist & Therapeutic Endoscopist at Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals, New Delhi, and Former Assistant Professor (Hepatology), Institute of Liver & Biliary Sciences (ILBS), New Delhi.
How articles are written
- Topics come from the questions patients ask in the OPD and from what people search for online.
- Articles may be drafted by our content team, then edited by Dr. Garg for medical accuracy and to add his clinical experience.
- We explain conditions in plain language and use Indian context where it matters, such as diet, common tests and local treatment options.
Medical review
- An article shows "Medically reviewed by Dr. Hitendra K Garg" only after he has read and approved that version.
- Each article shows the date it was last updated.
- We review articles when guidelines change and at least once every 12 months.
Sources
We base medical statements on clinical practice guidelines and peer-reviewed research, for example from the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases (AASLD), the European Association for the Study of the Liver (EASL), the Indian National Association for the Study of the Liver (INASL), the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG), the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and studies indexed in PubMed. Where an article lists references, they are the main sources used.
What our articles are not
Our articles are general education. They are not a diagnosis, they do not replace a consultation, and they cannot take your individual history into account. Do not start, stop or change a medicine because of something you read here without speaking to your doctor.
Advertising and conflicts of interest
This website does not carry advertising and does not accept payment for articles. We do not recommend specific brands of supplements or products.
Patient stories and reviews
Patient stories are published only with the patient's written consent. We do not edit reviews to change their meaning.
